Key dates

Both oral and poster presentations will be acceptable for IACSS 2014 Conference Darwin 22-24 June, 2014. Full papers for conference proceedings can be submitted for both oral and poster presentations. Instructions for abstract, oral and poster presentations, as well as full paper submission for conference proceedings follow.

Abstract topics

The conference scientific committee encourages papers on theoretical issues and their applications related to both Computer Science (CS) and Sport Sciences (SS). The authors, who want to submit manuscripts to IACSS 2014 conference, will need to choose a least one topic from both Computer Science (CS) and Sport Sciences (SS) subtitles.

Abstract Submission Guidelines

All abstracts should be submitted by email to conference scientific committee until 1st April 2014. The intention is the abstracts submitted shall be published without any correction; therefore the authors should be careful about spelling mistakes.

Guidelines for Submission

  1. The abstracts shall be submitted via the email abstract system.
  2. All abstracts should be written and presented in English.
  3. Abstracts shall include unpublished data.
  4. Appropriate topic must be selected before submission.
  5. Names of the authors should not include their academic titles.
  6. The names should be written with only the first letter in capital and the rest in small letters and without abbreviation.
  7. Name and address of the institution, in which the author is employed, should be stated.
  8. Only the first letter of the abstract title should be in capital letters and the title should be a maximum of 150 characters.
  9. In case abbreviation is used in the abstract, the abbreviation should be specified in full at first mention, followed by the abbreviation in parenthesis, thereafter abbreviation only should be used.
  10. The purpose of the paper and the methods applied should be explained in brief, the findings should be summarized together with sufficient statistical details and the conclusion should be stated within the framework of the findings presented.
  11. Abstract should be organized in a way to include the title, background, materials and methods, results and discussion & conclusions.
  12. When a paragraph stops (e.g. within Background) the sentence should finish with a full stop. The next sub-heading e.g. Materials & Methods should then begin on a new line.
  13. There should be one line spacing between paragraphs.
  14. The abstract length should not exceed 300 words excluding the abstract title, name and surname of the author.
  15. References should not be included.
  16. Statements such as “results will be discussed” or “data will be presented” will not be accepted.
  17. Only one table may be included but no photographs, figures or references.
  18. Indicate your Disclosure of Interest Statement as a note from Author to Editor in the email.

Important Notices

  • Abstracts will be allocated to a particular theme and topic.
  • In balancing the programme the Scientific Committee may require authors to present their work in an alternate format (e.g. as a poster rather than oral).
  • By submitting an abstract, all Authors agree to release the licence to the Conference Organizers and give permission to publish the abstract in the Conference handbook and on the website, and in so doing certify that the abstract is original work.
  • Please keep the confirmation mail sent to your e-mail address following the abstract submission.

Body of Abstract

Maximum 300 words with following headings:

  • Title: Calibri (Body), Font 11,  Bold Print
  • Author(s): Calibri (Body), Font 11
  • Author(s) Affiliation: In sequence with authors.

  • Background: Study objectives, hypothesis tested or description of problem.

  • Materials and Methods: Materials and methods used or approach taken.

  • Results: In summarized form, must include data and might include only one table but must not include photographs, figures or references.

  • Discussion & Conclusion: Description of main outcomes of the study. Include knowledge or insight that conference attendees will gain from the presentation, explanation of how conference attendees can apply the skills and/or knowledge within their communities and how the study contributes to evidence-based knowledge.

  • Submit Abstract to Associate Professor Ian Heazlewood by sending an e-mail with abstract attached as a word document to ian.heazlewood@cdu.edu.au.

Abstract Evaluation

All abstracts will be blind reviewed by the Scientific Committee and scored for originality, quality of data, presentation and significance. In order to have an accepted abstract being programmed by the scientific committee, conference registration for the presenting author is compulsory. An acceptance letter concerning the abstract evaluation result will be e-mailed to the author on May 01, 2014.

Conference Registration

Abstract presenters are required to fund their own attendance at the conference and should not submit an abstract if this is not possible. Conference registration for the presenting author is compulsory.

Discounted registration fees are available before May 5, 2014. Authors requiring abstract acceptance to attend the meeting should note that registration fees are refundable in case of abstract rejection with a 20% deduction from the registration fee for administration.

Notification of Accepted Abstracts

A notification e-mail which informs the Authors about the acceptance situation, type, date and time of the presentation will be sent by May 01, 2014. Presenting Authors will be required to register for the conference. If the Presenting Author is not registered by May 3, 2014, the abstract will be withdrawn, will not be reviewed and removed from the program.

Oral Presentations

10 minutes presentation and 5 minutes question time.
Oral presentations may be original research, case presentations, divisional projects or analytical studies. Where possible, presentations with a similar theme will be grouped together.
