Clutter is a feature of the new email environment that learns the way you manage your mailbox and assists you in sorting low priority email into a folder to keep your inbox free from clutter. While the system learns your habits, you may need to keep an eye on the Clutter folder, in case more important messages are directed there inadvertently.
There are a couple of ways in which you can aid Clutter to make the learning process simpler:
- For items in the Clutter folder you would like put back in your inbox – simply right click and move to the inbox, or drag the message to the inbox.
- For items in inbox that are Clutter - simply right click and move to the Clutter folder, or drag the message to the clutter folder.
If at any point you would like this feature turned off, please follow the steps below:
- Follow the steps at the beginning of this page to sign in to Outlook Online (webmail).
- Then, go to Settings
> Mail > Automatic processing > Clutter.
- Untick 'Don't separate items identified as Clutter'
- Click Save.
Note: The Clutter folder will remain visible in Outlook after you turn off Clutter feature. Outlook Online has more options when it comes to managing clutter. Click the gear Icon and search for Clutter to learn more.
