Getting Help

Something is not working or I want something IT related

Their are three options.

  • Call the ITMS Service
  • Log a job with LogIT
  • Visit the IT Kiosk

Service Desk

The Service Desk can be contacted on Extension 6600 (External 08 8946 6600) from 7:00 to 18:00 (CST) Monday to Thursdays and 17:30 on Fridays. The people answering the phone will try and assist you the best they can and if that is not possible, pass it to Tier Two technician to resolve.

LogIT

LogIT is CDU's IT job logging system and can be used 24 hours a day 365 days a year to report issues or make requests.

IT Kiosk

The IT Kiosk allows staff based at Casuarina Campus to drop in and get help face to face.

Where can I get help on using the common software programs?

CDU has a subscription to LinkedIn Learning (linkedIn.com/learning). Click "Sign In" in the top right corner and select "Sign in with your organization portal" enter "cdu.edu.au" and click "continue" and follow the prompts.

Specialist applications such as Callista, Learnline and Alesco are handled by their dedicated teams.

Where should I be saving my documents and data?

When starting out it is important to know where you should be storing the documents and other data you are producing.

Each area will have there own way of doing things but there are some general rules.

  • Avoid saving your data to the computer you are working on.
  • Store your work documents to your areas corporate drive or SharePoint site
  • Store works in progress or personal documents to OneDrive

How can I work away from CDU?

Sooner or later staff will want to work off campus, be it a one off or on a regular basis. ITMS have been working toward a philosophy of ADAPT (Any Device, Any Place, Any Time). The aim is to make as easy as possible to continue working regardless of your situation.

How can I install Software on my computer?

You have access to over 100 software packages in the Software Center. On your CDU Windows computer is a link on the desktop to Software Center, open this and browse or search though the packages available. Click on each tile to find out more and if you want it on you computer click install. All without having to log a job or contact ITMS.

You can also request a other software, not listed, be installed via LogIT.

Instant messaging using Jabber

Jabber is the instant messaging software used by CDU. It allows you to chat and share files with your colleagues.

Yammer is an Enterprise Social media Network.

To access Yammer go to the CDU Portal and click the Yammer tile.

How to arrange a Video Conference?

Booking for CDU Staff and affiliates for video conferences are requested in LogIT

    • Click "I Need Something" Browse button > "Audio Visual & Teaching Spaces" See More button > "Internal Video Conference" New Request button and complete the online form.
