Check your browser

Recommended browser

Firefox or Chrome are the preferred browsers for Learnline on Windows or Mac, combined with versions 7 or 8 of Java Runtime Environment (JRE). We recommend installing both browsers.

Get the recommended browsers here:

Blackboard's Browser Support Policy has detailed information about supported browsers, as well as javascript, cookies, and other plugins and software..

You may also wish to review the specific VoiceThread Browser requirements.

Java and other browser plug-ins

Java

Some Learnline features require additional software to operate.

The following features have plugin requirements:

  • Multiple file uploads in Unit Files and the Content Collection requires the Java Runtime Environment (JRE) from Oracle enabled as a browser plugin.

JRE version 7 or 8 are recommended. There are known security issues with JRE version 6.

Mac OS X users should review the Java on Mac OS X information to ensure they are using compatible browsers and Java versions.

Other plug-ins and Software

Some units may require additional plug-ins or software, such as Respondus Lockdown Browser. Refer to the information provided within the unit in these cases.

Assistive software and accessibility

For the best Blackboard Learn experience with your screen reader, use Firefox and Jaws on a Windows system. On a Mac use Safari and VoiceOver.

New students: Learnline student orientation

If this is your first time studying at CDU as a HE student, and you have checked that your system meets all the requirements, you may wish to try Learnline.

CDU has created a Learnline Student Orientation site that will help you to prepare for your first semester studying. In the site you will find information about using Learnline, demonstrations of key tools and features and activities to help you track your progress. The Learnline Student Orientation site is designed to resemble, as closely as possible, actual Learnline sites that you will use during your study. Gaining practical experience navigating around Learnline prior to your first semester will give you a great platform for success.

You can access this site on the Units page after you login to Learnline.
