How To Avoid Library Fines
Avoid fines by:
- returning your items on or before the due date, see My Library Account Allow 3-4 days for postage when returning items if you are a Distance Library Services client.
- renewing your items before the due date, see My Library Account
- regularly checking your email* and returning items that are recalled for another patron
- returning items before going away, see Conditions of Borrowing
*email refers to your CDU student or staff email address, your current student or staff email address if you are with another tertiary institution or your personal email address if you are a member of the public.
Your borrowing privileges will be blocked if there is an overdue item on your account or your fines exceed $49.
Fine removal
Once overdue items are returned, the Library will remove your fines.
The two exceptions to this are for items that have been recalled for another patron that are overdue or if an item is lost or damaged. In these circumstances, a fine must be paid.

Waivers may be granted in exceptional circumstances. Supporting documentation such as a medical certificate will be required. Please contact us about this.
