Charles Darwin University has been acknowledged for its outstanding international success by winning the Exporter of the Year title at last night’s 2015 Chief Minister's NT Export and Industry Awards.

CDU also received the Austrade Education and Training Award for outstanding innovation and international success in the field of education and training services, expertise and curriculum including vocational training for the second consecutive year.

The awards recognise the outstanding achievements of Northern Territory exporters and industry leaders and promote the importance of international trade.

International Strategy and Development Director Monica Turvey said the award was recognition of CDU’s growth as a world-class education provider. The award also acknowledged the dedication and hard work of the international office team.

“In 2014/2015 CDU recorded an average of 25 per cent growth in international enrolments across our campuses and centres in Darwin, Sydney and Melbourne,” Ms Turvey said.

CDU is known internationally for its research in areas such as the environment, engineering, health, Indigenous knowledges, renewable energy, and social and economic policy.

“We now have more than 1900 on-campus international students from 68 nationalities enrolled in PhD, Masters, Bachelor programs and in VET courses,” Ms Turvey said.

She said CDU was the leading education services exporter in the Northern Territory.

“CDU exports the delivery of high-quality research, education and training in more than 110 nationally and internationally recognised and accredited programs, in multiple study locations across Australia,” she said.

As finalists in the Australian Export Awards, Northern Territory Award winners will be benchmarked against their peers across the country, with winners receiving national recognition for their international success.
