CDU continues its global ranking success
22-Sep-2016

Acting Vice-Chancellor Professor Sue Carthew said she was proud of the university’s achievement
Charles Darwin University has maintained its top 300 global rank after the release of the Times Higher Education World University Rankings.
CDU has been ranked in the 251–300 category of institutions worldwide in the prestigious THE World University Rankings for 2016-17 and placed equal 11th out of 35 Australian institutions.
Acting Vice-Chancellor Professor Sue Carthew said she was proud of the university’s achievement in being included in the world rankings for the sixth consecutive year.
“Remaining in the top two per cent of the world’s universities is a great endorsement for us and shows what outstanding results can be achieved from a small young regional university,” Professor Carthew said. “I congratulate all our staff on this exceptional result.”
The Times Higher Education World University Rankings uses 13 separate performance indicators to examine a university’s strengths against its core missions of teaching, research, knowledge transfer and international outlook.
CDU’s strongest scores were for international outlook and citations, which reflects the number of times researchers around the world have quoted CDU research.
“It’s clear that CDU is extremely well regarded in the areas of international outlook and research, in particular,” she said.
“The Northern Territory should be very pleased that its university is achieving this level of international recognition.”
Earlier this year CDU also was listed in joint 31st position in the Times Higher Education “150 Under 50 Rankings 2016”, which identifies the top 150 universities around the world that are aged less than 50 years old.
