Dedicated staff awarded for exceptional performance

Charles Darwin University staff have been recognised for their outstanding dedication, energy and commitment in their work at the end-of-year staff awards ceremony.

Awards were presented to academic, professional, research and general staff for exceptional performance exceeding the normal requirements of their position and advancing the university’s strategic goals.

Dr Rama Jayaraj received The Ryan Family Award for exceptional performance and contribution to CDU for his commitment to excellence in teaching and involvement in research with a global reach.

Dr Jayaraj is an applied biotechnologist and has helped to strengthen research ties between CDU and institutions in India, Indonesia and Thailand. He is also an emerging mental health scientist focusing on Australian Indigenous alcohol-associated assaults and violence.

Vice-Chancellor Awards for General Staff team went to the Curriculum Approvals and Publication System Team, and CDU Child Care Staff Team. The individual award was presented to Office of Student Administration and Equity Services coordinator of examinations and timetabling Nick Baker-Goldsmith.

Vice-Chancellor Awards for Research went to Senior Research Fellow at the Northern Institute Dr Andrew Taylor and Research Institute for the Environment and Livelihoods Senior Research Fellow Dr Peter Kyne. Team awards went to the Northern Institute Living Archive of Aboriginal Languages Team and the Menzies School of Health Research Cancer Team.

The Vice-Chancellor Awards for Student Learning were won by the Innovative Media Production Studio Team and the School of Law Indonesian Law Team.

As part of the ceremony 28 staff received their Long Service Recognition Awards for 10, 15, 20, 25 and 30 years of service to CDU. School of Health lecturer Janie Mason received her 30 years of service award.
