First interstate graduation ceremony for CDU

Chancellor Her Honour the Honourable Sally Thomas AC will preside over CDU’s first graduation ceremony in Adelaide.

The Northern Territory’s Charles Darwin University will celebrate a milestone moment in its 25-year history tomorrow night when it conducts its first interstate graduation ceremony in Adelaide.

Some 140 higher education students and two Vocational Education and Training students will be acknowledged for their academic achievements at a ceremony at the Adelaide Convention Centre on 17 June.

Office of Student Administration and Equity Services Director Edwina Grose said students from across all three faculties would participate in the event.

“Our Chancellor, Her Honour the Honourable Sally Thomas AC, will confer qualifications ranging from certificate and diploma through to bachelor and two doctorates,” Ms Grose said.

“Our new Vice-Chancellor Professor Simon Maddocks also will attend.

“The group will include 32 teaching and learning graduands and 26 nursing graduands, nine from law and eight from the behavioural sciences.”

Ms Grose said that while most graduands were from either South Australia (71) or Victoria (31), all mainland Australian jurisdictions would be represented and one student would attend from overseas.

“This event reflects our commitment to providing a broad range of high quality, flexible, online courses to students regardless of their location,” Ms Grose said.

Details about the mid-year graduation ceremonies are available on the CDU website.
