IHD Office hours are 9.00am to 5.00pm Monday to Friday. The office is not open on weekends or public holidays. If your room is not available you may be offered another room or you may have to find alternate accommodation.

For residents departing outside office hours, a key return box is provided on the wall outside the Office door. Until keys are returned, normal room charges will be applied. If you are departing Darwin on a late flight, luggage storage is available and you should contact the office to arrange this.

Residents must check-out by this time to ensure that IHD Housing Services have time to clean the rooms before new residents arrive.
Rooms will be inspected upon departure. It is expected that residents will leave their room in the same condition that they found it upon arrival. Any loss, damage or additional cleaning requirements will be charged to the departing guests or taken from their bond.

Outside office hours we have Resident Leaders on duty to help with security and any other urgent issues that may arise.

The Resident Leaders are on call from 5pm to 8am every night of the week and on weekends. Issues may include lockouts (note: room lockouts occurring between 10pm and 8am incur a A$20 charge on the resident's account), urgent maintenance issues, noise or other disturbances, medical incidents, safety incidents etc.

Long term residents are required to maintain their rent account status at two weeks payment in advance. Residents are encouraged to set up a direct debit arrangement to ensure timely rent payments.

Residents are issued with a room key and a drawer key. All keys must be returned to the IHD office when departing or the charge for non-returned keys will be taken from your bond money.

Replacement room keys will be charged at $20 for each individual key lost or not returned to us. Replacement drawer keys will be charged at $10 of each lost key.

If you are departing after office hours a key return box is provided outside the IHD office door for your convenience.

All residents must have a valid parking permit to park their car in the IHD car park. Residents can obtain a parking permit for free at the IHD Office.  Permits should be displayed on the car windscreen and allow for cards to be parked in designated IHD spaces only. If IHD car parks are full, residents with a valid permit may park in the University car parks directly opposite IHD Buildings 1, 2 and 11.
