Centre for School Leadership

A New Direction for NT School and System Leadership Development

From 2017 the Centre for School Leadership (CSL) will provide four levels of Leadership Certification to support the incremental growth of education leaders in the NT. This process will guide beginning and experienced leaders through higher levels of knowledge of ‘the literature’, and through school-based research experiences, to attain NT Leadership Certification Levels and Charles Darwin University (CDU) postgraduate qualifications. It enables educators to plan their personal leadership and career development over a number of years and stages. The direction will support system-wide leadership succession planning in education in the Northern Territory (NT).

CSL is building capacity for the delivery of leadership certification programs through the appointment of academic staff, including a professor and lecturers with specialised areas of education experts, in order to deliver postgraduate standard courses. These courses will receive assured Advance Standing for Post Graduate Certificates and Masters Degrees at CDU. In the longer term, it is envisaged that the programs will be made available to school leaders in the Asian region in line with NT Department of Education (DoE) and CDU international partnership agreements.
