Peta Harbour | Charles Darwin University

RN, BNur, GCHHProfEdu

Lecturer, Nursing

I have a passion for the delivery of quality healthcare and developing the need for accountability and motivation in undergraduate nursing students. I have extensive experience as a graduate coordinator and structure my teaching to allow students the best success in their first year as a graduate nurse.

I teach because I enjoy seeing the passion and desire of those who aspire to be a member of the nursing community; and developing a deep sense of responsibility for the delivery of the best healthcare and patient outcomes possible.

I value a flexible approach to teaching, and will tailor my delivery of course content based on 'real-life' clinical experiences.

Academic Biography

Academic and professional qualifications

I have an undergraduate degree in Nursing from Australian Catholic University, and am completing a Masters Degree in Health Professional Education from Griffith University. I have completed training in chronic disease management via the RCNA which has inspired a different view point on the role of the nurse, and the impact of Primary Health Care.

Previous Employment

I commenced my career with a Graduate Program, and then specialized in Emergency and Trauma care for the majority of my career. I was a Graduate Coordinator for a large metropolitan hospital and this inspired an interest in the need and provision for quality education of undergraduate nurses. I also have experience in Primary Health Care delivery from a chronic disease management perspective.
