The Northern Territory Division of the National Tertiary Education Union is celebrating Bluestocking Week.  From the late 1980s Australian women have celebrated Bluestocking Week to highlight women's participation in higher education.

This year the NT Division of the NTEU Women's Action Committee (WAC) plans to celebrate Bluestocking Week with a library display and high tea at the CDU Casuarina Campus, Mal Nairn Auditorium Foyer.

The theme this year is “Worth 100%” with a focus on gender-based discrimination in higher education.

Our guest speaker, Dr Sue Stanton, will give a speech entitled Celebrating Indigenous Women in Academia. Sue’s speech will highlight attitudes that seek to silence the voices of women and the importance of women employed in the higher education sector speaking out and sharing their experiences.

Information on Bluestocking Week can be found on the NTEU Women’s website at http://www.nteu.org.au/women/bluestockingweek
