Abstract: The development of data linkage infrastructure through SA NT DataLink has provided new opportunities for research. The most developed of Menzies data linkage research streams has been a program of studies in child and youth development. This program seeks to identify the critical early determinants of better health and wellbeing outcomes and the critical antecedents and risk pathways to more adverse outcomes. The study population comprises more than 80,000 children born in the NT over the period from 1994 to 2015.

The presentation will provide an overview of the development of data linkage capacity in child and youth research, with examples of results in early child development, education and child protection
