Become an author in Australia’s best-read research & news site, TheConversation.com

TheConversation.com taps into the expertise of around 9000 academics and researchers from institutions across Australia and the world.  It has grown to become Australia’s best-read independent source of analysis, commentary and news, with more than 1.5 million unique visitors each month. This includes a sister site in the UK, and it is currently expanding into Indonesia and beyond.

Founded by a former editor-in-chief of The Age newspaper and funded by the CSIRO and most Australian universities (including CDU), The Conversation is a not-for-profit media outlet making expert opinion and research freely available to a wider audience. You can pitch a story idea and - if it’s accepted - you collaborate with an editor to make your work easily understood by anyone aged 16 years or over, anywhere in the world.

For many authors, articles published in The Conversation have led to higher paper download and citation rates, requests from international journals, and increased interest from prospective students. That's because around 85% of articles published inTheConversation.com are republished elsewhere under Creative Commons, while about half lead to coverage in other media – from local outlets including the ABC and Network 10's The Project, through to international outlets such as CNN, The Guardian, and Reddit. Publishing on the site is also increasingly being considered in university public engagement metrics. As a member of The Conversation, CDU is sent monthly reports on who is contributing to the site, and how many people worldwide have read their work.

This is a fantastic opportunity for NI staff to have their own session with Liz Minchin.  Please RSVP by Monday 17 March midday for catering purposes.
