Sebastian Lowe

Sebastian J. Lowe (Ngā Tāngata Tiriti) is an anthropologist, musician and filmmaker from Aotearoa New Zealand. He has an interest in sound worlds, particularly ngā taonga puoro (traditional Māori instruments), creative research methods, community research and research ethics.

He is co-curator of www.otismakers.com together with Victoria Baskin Coffey and Jennifer Deger. Otis is a community of artists and anthropologists exploring the in-between of art and anthropology. 

Sebastian is also a member of the Aotearoa Ethics Committee - Te Roopu Rapu i te Tika: (www.nzethics.com). 

Sebastian is currently a researcher an ARC project on the life of the beach led by CDU’s Paul Gurrumuruwuy Wunugmurra and Jennifer Deger.
