Dr Sophie Pennec

Sophie is a demographer with a doctorate in demographic economics from the Political Science Institute in Paris (France).

Her main appointment is with the French Institute for demographic studies (INED- Paris, France) and is also adjunct fellow with the Australian National University. She spends a few months every year in Australia.

Current Projects

  • Medical decision of ending of life: analysis of the survey “end of life in France”; organisation of the development of the survey in some French overseas territories
  • Orphans and Orphanhood: estimation of the number of orphans using different data sources and approach (surveys, simulation…), analysis of their socio-economic development, their family environment
  • Microsimulation of ageing and need for care in Australia (with ANU)
  • Professional projections of workforce to be developed at NI
