  • The challenge

PhD candidates develop digital skills to communicate complex research to a general audience. Using a template, entrants encapsulate their research in a 60-second, eye-catching display. Judging is on visual impact and how well content presents the research. View previous CDU winners, get background information or view national winners.

  • 3MT - three minute thesis logo

Three Minute Thesis (3MT®) is a research communication competition developed by The University of Queensland (UQ). Research higher degree (PhD and MPhil) students have three minutes to present a compelling oration on their thesis and its significance.

3MT is not an exercise in trivialising or ‘dumbing-down’ research but challenges students to consolidate their ideas and research discoveries so they can be presented concisely to a non-specialist audience.

  • CDU held its first HDR Conference in May 2017 and it's second HDR conference in September 2019. These Conferences provide a friendly, safe environment for CDU HDR students to hone their conference presentation skills as well as allowing opportunities for networking, connection and community building.

Next HDR Conference is planned for May 2021.

I just wanted to say what an amazing job everyone did with the Student HDR Conference… the sessions I attended were really well run and professional.
