Step 10 - Why isn't my online enrolment working?

You may be trying to enrol online but keep getting an error or breach messages. It may be due to one of the following:


Some units have prerequisites attached - a prerequisite unit is one which must be completed before the current unit is attempted. You can't add that unit to your enrolment unless you have received a passing grade previously or have been granted an exemption from the prerequisite unit.

Restriction by unit levels

Restrictions by unit levels mean that if you are studying towards a Bachelor award, you can enrol only in units at levels 100 - 400 (unless the course offers specialist electives at level 500). If it is a level 500 unit, you will need to do a manual enrolment for this unit.

Overload rules

You can normally enrol in up to 40 credit points each semester. If you wish to enrol in additional units you must:

  • have completed 40 credit points of study at CDU in your current course
  • have gained a minimum of GPA of 5.0 or above for those units


  • provide evidence of extenuating circumstance to support your request.

You can apply for an enrolment overload by completing and submitting a HE112 Overload Enrolment Application (PDF 92).

Non-award and Cross-Institutional Students

If you are a non-award and Cross-Institutional Student, you cannot enrol online.

Placement Units - Nursing / midwifery / social work students

Prior to enrolling in placement units in these courses, you need to complete the online placement nomination process (this is separate to the online enrolment process). You can find more information at Health Placements.

Coordinator approved units

Some units have limits on student numbers (for example in-country units and field placement units) and others may need Course Coordinator approval prior to enrolment. You will need to do a manual enrolment for these units. The unit description in the unit catalogue will advise if you need to manually enrol.

If none of the above is relevant.....

Then you may have just 'jammed' your online enrolment. This sometimes occurs if you have been going back and forth between enrolment screens. Select the 'CLEAR' button, then re-enter your units.
