To provide financial support to students enrolled in a social science course at Charles Darwin University and to honour Garth and Lorna Robertson.

Payment: $1,250 per semester

Duration: Two (2) semesters

Eligibility criteria:
  • Must be enrolled in the Bachelor level or higher in a Social Science course
  • Must be enrolled full-time for the duration of the scholarship

How to apply (includes Selection Criteria)

You can apply for all scholarships where you meet the eligibility criteria. You may be awarded a maximum of two scholarships. Each scholarship needs a separate online application.

Selection criteria

Your online application will require you to complete a written statement which will include addressing each of the following selection criteria.  Answers to these criteria help the scholarship assessment panel choose the successful recipient.

Essential criteria

  • Demonstrate passion, ability and initiative in your approach to study
  • Give reasons for choosing area of study
  • Demonstrate an appropriate academic record
  • Demonstrate a financial, cultural or social disadvantage.

Desirable criteria

  • Mature aged students and students who have migrated to Australia on a permanent basis are strongly encouraged to apply.

Supporting documents

You can upload documents to support your application (in one file not exceeding 2MB).

Past and present CDU students do not need to upload academic transcripts. All other applicants are strongly advised to submit proof of previous academic performance (from high school or other universities) to support your application.

After submitting your application

You will immediately receive an automatic reply acknowledging receipt of your application. Within 2-3 days you will receive a confirmation email from the scholarships office. If you are required to submit further documentation you will be advised in this email.

Assessment of applications

Your application will be assessed by a panel. If your application includes a work placement you may be required to attend an interview with the workplace employer.

Assessments are usually completed by the end of March for semester 1 and the end of August for semester 2.

Notification to applicants

All applicants will receive email notification regarding the success of their application.
