Accelerated International Masters Qualifying Program

This course will develop advanced knowledge and skills in business communication, business ethics, organisational security and enterprise IT management. It is designed to enable you to read, write, communicate and critically analyse higher level concepts and complex issues in a discipline specific context.
You will further develop skills in reflective, autonomous and collaborative practices to successfully engage in learning and assessment activities at postgraduate level. An underlying philosophy of the course is that academic studies at postgraduate level is a social and contextual activity that requires developing appropriate attitudes and behaviours towards studying, fellow students and the wider academic community. The course will help you achieve the CDU graduate quality outcomes and reflect the values of CDU. Successful completion of this course allows you to begin the following courses at CDU: Master of Business Administration (Professional Practice), Master of Accounting (Professional Practice), Master of Information Technology (Cyber Security) and Master of Information Technology (Information Systems and Data Science).
Students with an appropriate academic background and IELTS score of 6.0 with no band lower than 5.5 will be accepted into the Accelerated MQP course, which is one semester long. This semester is comprised of advanced skills in business, accounting and IT and academic studies at postgraduate level.
Students with an appropriate academic background and IELTS score of 5.5 with no band lower than 5.5 will be accepted into the Standard MQP. The Standard MQP is two semesters long, and combines a first semester comprised of the Masters Preparation Program (MPP) course, with advanced English language skills appropriate to postgraduate level studies for the specific disciplines, and an additional semester of advanced skills in business, accounting and IT and academic studies at postgraduate level.

Essential requirements
To gain entry into Charles Darwin University, all Higher Education applicants must satisfy the University's English Language Proficiency Requirements for their chosen course of study. International applicants will be required to supply evidence of this at the time of application.
The minimum English language requirement for this course is met by either undertaking previous education in an English-speaking country or undertaking one of the following English language tests and obtaining the minimum requirements listed below.
IELTS Academic Module | A minimum overall score of 6.0 with no band less than 5.5. |
Cambridge Advanced English (CAE) | A minimum overall score of 169, with no skill below 162. |
Common European Framework Certificate of English Proficiency | A minimum overall grade of B2. |
Pearson Test of English (PTE) Academic module | A minimum overall score of 50 with no score lower than 42. |
TOEFL Internet-based Test (iBT) | A minimum overall score of 60 with a minimum score of 18 for reading, speaking and listening and a minimum score of 21 for writing. |
* All tests are valid for two years from the date of the test to the date of commencement at CDU, unless otherwise specified.
* Where applicable, international applicants must also satisfy the Department of Home Affairs (DHA) English language requirements for student visa applications.

Course structure
The information provided for this course was valid for the final year of enrolment. Students continuing in this course may find there have been some changes to the unit availability. Students should, in the first instance, refer to the recommended study plan in the newest version of this course to make their unit selection for the current year.
Every re-enrolling student will be able to complete their current course of study. As a continuing student you should always consider transferring to the newest course version to enable you to take advantage of new and exciting changes to university programs. A candidate must successfully complete 4 units totalling 40 credit points (cp) over one semester as detailed below. All units are compulsory, are taught concurrently and are valued at 10 credit points each.
Students are expected to spend 12-13 hours per week on each unit over a 12-week teaching period. This includes lectures, tutorials, reading, independent and group study and contact with staff members. However, additional time will be needed depending on the entry level of a student’s English language skills.
Each unit is timetabled for five hours face to face classes per week: two hours of lectures, two hours of tutorials and one hour of guided pre-reading.

Course fees
International tuition fees
The annual tuition fee for full time study of 40 credit points (1.0 EFTSL) for commencing students in 2021 is AUD $12,990.00.
These fees are subject to annual increases each year of your study, effective at the start of each calendar year.
