Batchelor: this course is available to Indigenous students by mixed mode delivery through the Batchelor Institute of Indigenous Tertiary Education (BIITE) in Batchelor.
The Bachelor of Education Early Childhood Teaching is a new and innovative course that prepares you for registration as an early childhood teacher and as a primary school teacher, offering greater employment flexibility and versatility.
During this course, you explore issues, concepts and practices which are common and specific to both early childhood education (including before school settings) and primary school education.

Teacher Professional Assessment (TPA) would be met during the course.

Professional recognition
This course has been accredited through the Teacher Registration Board of the Northern Territory consistent with the standards established by the Australian Institute for Teaching and School Leadership for the Accreditation of Initial Teacher Education Programs in Australia.
This program is approved with the Australian Children's Education and Care Quality Authority (ACECQA).
Graduates of the course will be eligible for registration to teach in schools across all Australian State and Territory jurisdictions (subject to meeting other eligibility criteria such as National Literacy and Numeracy test for Initial Teacher Education aligned with Teacher Registration Requirement, English proficiency and suitability to teach). Graduates will be recognised as Early Childhood Teachers under the Australian Children's Education and Care Quality Authority requirements.

Commonwealth supported places
Commonwealth Supported places are available in this course to students who meet one of the following residency requirements:
(a) Australian Citizenship; or
(b) a New Zealand citizen or a permanent resident visa holder who will be resident within Australia for the duration of the unit.

International tuition fees
The annual tuition fee for full time study of 80 credit points (1.0 EFTSL) for commencing students in 2019 is AUD $25,440.00.
These fees are subject to annual increases each year of your study, effective at the start of each calendar year.

Course structure
The Bachelor of Education Early Childhood Teaching comprises two common units, a number of core theory and professional experience units and general elective units.
The course is designed to:
- develop professional knowledge and skills for teaching children from birth to 12 years;
- prepare for new and changing educational roles as early childhood and primary school educators;
- develop reflective practitioner skills;
- explore in greater depth the theory to practice nexus of early childhood and primary school education;
- ensure continuing awareness of the environmental and cultural influences on teaching and learning in early childhood and primary schools; and
- better understand the needs of learners and communities with diverse linguistic and cultural orientations, including Indigenous learners.
The course is theory and practice based, with students having supervised professional experience in schools/learning sites from the first semester in the first year. There are four professional experience blocks that require full-time commitment in each year of the course. The course can be completed by fully external study (online) or in a blend of online and internal formats. There is a high level of online study and interaction for all students.
All students must pass prior to graduation the ACER Literacy and Numeracy Test for Initial Teacher Education (LANTITE) as required by the Australian Institute for Teaching and School Leadership (AITSL). The cost of the testing will be met by the student. Refer to https://teacheredtest.acer.edu.au/

This course covers the following primary specialisations: Literacy/English, Numeracy/Mathematics, Science.
A candidate must successfully complete units totalling 320 credit points as detailed below. All units are valued at 10 credit points unless otherwise indicated.
This course has a requirement of 100 days of Professional Experience.
