CHCSS00072 Building Inclusive Practices in Early Childhood Education and Care Skill Set

This skill set reflects the skill requirements for workers to build inclusive practices in an early childhood education and care sector organisation. This skill set is for workers with existing experience or qualifications in early childhood education and care roles seeking to broaden their skills.

This skills set has been endorsed by industry as suitable for individuals who hold a qualification at Certificate III level or higher in early childhood education and care or have skills equivalent to the qualification requirement validated through a recognition of prior learning process.

This is an online course that has a workplace component. Assessment consists of both theory and practical components and are to be completed by specified due dates. All practical assessments are completed as part of the required work placement.

> health services assistant
> allied health assistant

Entry requirements

You must:

  • be 18 years or older; and
  • not be attending secondary school; and
  • hold a Certificate III level qualification or higher in early childhood education and care.

Essential requirements

Students are required to undertake a minimum of 240 hours of work placement in regulated early childhood education and care service. Students will be required to obtain an Ochre Card prior to undertaking work placement. The work placement will be arranged by CDU.

Appropriate dress standards for children's services volunteer placement students include:
- a collared and sleeved shirt - some students wear the navy/dark blue CDU polo shirt but this is not a requirement
- closed in shoes
- a brimmed hat for working outside
- if wearing shorts, these should be a respectable length e.g. just above the knee.

Fees

To be eligible for an NT Government funded place you must be:

  • a Northern Territory resident; and
  • an Australian citizen, permanent Australian resident or a New Zealand citizen who has resided in Australia for a minimum of six months

Fees

To be eligible for an NT Government funded place you must be:

  • a resident of the Northern Territory; and
  • a temporary visa holder who:
    • does not have work or study restrictions
    • has a valid visa for the duration of the training, allowing for the total volume of learning required to achieve the qualification, including supervised and unsupervised training and study
    • is not the primary provisional visa holder of a skilled, business innovation and investment, student, work or holiday visa identified on the Department of Home Affairs website.

Course structure

To achieve the Skill Set CHCSS00072 - Building Inclusive Practices in Early Childhood Education and Care Skill Set a total of Six (6) unit of competency must be completed as listed below.

Students will be issued with a Statement of Attainment upon successful completion.
