Upskill, reskill, and retrain in health sciences. Our Undergraduate Certificate Introduction to Health Industries is the perfect one-year, part-time course. Available 100% online or on campus, this course will equip you with core knowledge in health. It is also a direct pathway into higher education courses in health science, should you wish to continue studying.
Learn about Australia's healthcare system and acquire knowledge in diverse health science disciplines.
On completing our Undergraduate Certificate Introduction to Health Industries, you will be eligible to use the credits you have gained towards further study of a:
- Bachelor of Health Sciences
- Bachelor of Health Service Management
- Bachelor of Paramedicine
- Bachelor of Public Health.
You may also use our Undergraduate Certificate to Health Industries as a pathway for entry into a variety of other higher education courses. Advanced standing may be granted for some of or all the subjects you successfully complete.
Note: On current advice the Undergraduate Certificate must be completed by the end of 2025.

Commonwealth supported places
Commonwealth Supported places are available in this course to students who meet one of the following residency requirements:
(a) be an Australian citizen, who will complete some of your course of study while resident in Australia; or
(b) a New Zealand citizen; or an Australian permanent visa holder; or an eligible former permanent humanitarian visa holder; who studies the entire course while living in Australia.

What will I study?
Our Undergraduate Certificate Introduction to Health Industries course is a 40-credit point course consisting of two (2) core and two (2) specialist elective units. This course includes a combination of introductory and first-year degree subjects designed to help you develop core knowledge in health and the necessary skills for successful university studies.
Course structure
A candidate must successfully complete units totalling 40 credit points (cp) as detailed below. All units are valued at 10 credit points unless indicated.

Entry requirements
Admission criteria
Admission requirements are met by one of the following:
- Successful completion of the Northern Territory Certificate of Education and Training (or equivalent).
- Successful completion of a national qualification at Certificate III level or higher.
- Successful completion of at least 0.5 year of full-time study (or equivalent) of a higher education degree/diploma.
- Overseas secondary or tertiary qualifications considered equivalent to the above Australian qualifications.
- Attainment of a STAT Multiple Choice score of 125 or higher.
- Successful completion of a recognised tertiary preparation course.
- Submission of an acceptable personal competencies statement and/or employment experience.
- Defence members with service of 1 year or more at the following ranks (or higher) meet the academic entry requirement for this course:
- Navy: Seaman, Able Seaman, Leading Seaman
- Air Force: Aircraftmen/Aircraftwoman, Leading Aircraftman/Aircraftwoman, Corporal
- Army: Private, Lance Corporal, Corporal

To gain entry into Charles Darwin University, all Higher Education applicants must satisfy the University's English Language Proficiency Requirements for their chosen course of study. International applicants will be required to supply evidence of this at the time of application.
