VTP350 Introduction to Tourism

This program addresses the skills and knowledge required to deliver information to a group using basic group communication and presentation techniques and to provide catering for tour participants in an outdoor environment safely and hygienically.

There is a signifant outdoor practical component to this delivery supported by theory based activities and assessment tasks.

Delivery is conducted over 1 full week at either CDU Palmerston Campus or CDU Alice Springs Campus.

Entry requirements

You must:

  • be 18 years or older; and
  • not be attending secondary school; and
  • be able to demonstrate appropriate language, literacy, and numeracy skills and knowledge to undertake this course. This is demonstrated if you have completed a qualification deemed equivalent to an Australian Year 11 or higher, Australian Certificate III or higher, or by completing a Language, Literacy, and Numeracy (LLN) assessment.

Fees

To be eligible for an NT Government funded place you must be:

  • a Northern Territory resident; and
  • an Australian citizen, permanent Australian resident or a New Zealand citizen who has resided in Australia for a minimum of six months

Fees

To be eligible for an NT Government funded place you must be:

  • a resident of the Northern Territory; and
  • a temporary visa holder who:
    • does not have work or study restrictions
    • has a valid visa for the duration of the training, allowing for the total volume of learning required to achieve the qualification, including supervised and unsupervised training and study
    • is not the primary provisional visa holder of a skilled, business innovation and investment, student, work or holiday visa identified on the Department of Home Affairs website.

Course structure

To achieve training program VTP350 Introduction to Tourism a total of FOUR (4) units of competency must be completed. These units, taken from the SIT Tourism, Travel and Hospitality Training Package, are recognised nationwide and are listed below. Students will be issued with a 'Statement of Attainment' for units successfully completed.

Accreditation

This is a non-award course and a Statement of Attainment will be issued for nationally recognised units of competency successfully completed.
