Overview



This program is designed for people wishing to locate and rectify faults in electrical equipment after disconnecting the equipment from low voltage (1,000 Vac or 1,500 Vdc) installation wiring. This work may be incidental to or a primary and regular function in the workplace. 

Students will be developing skills in working safely, selecting and using test and measuring devices, identifying supply arrangements, following isolation and correct disconnection procedures, locating and rectifying faults, following reconnection procedures, terminating and connecting cables and conductors, safety testing and reporting.

Fee exemptions

Exemptions apply to TAFE tuition fees for NTG supported courses only.

Entry requirements

Admission criteria

To ensure you have the right skills and support to succeed in your course, a Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LL&N) evaluation helps identify areas where you may need additional support to help you achieve your goals. 

To gain entry into VTP360 Restricted Electrical candidates require: 

  • A letter of "training approval to study" from the NT Electrical Licensing Board after applying to the Board for a restricted Electrical Licence. This letter of "training approval to study" will identify the elective units of competency required by the NT Electrical Licensing Board to enable successful completion and the issuing of a restricted electrical licence.
  • Either be in relevant employment, or have access to appropriate workplace environments to achieve the completion requirements of this course.
