Overview

In the VTP413 4x4 Operations short course you will learn how to effectively drive a 4WD in varied environmental conditions to the vehicles capabilities.

This course is suitable for people with or without any experience in driving a 4WD. Depending on the units selected, this short will cover:

  • Basic vehicle maintenance
  • Driving on unsealed roads and general vehicle safety
  • Tackling uneven and difficult terrain which can include sand, mud, and water
  • Recovering a bogged vehicle
  • Journey management

Skill recognition

Skills recognition is not applicable to this course. CDU's short courses are highly targeted courses designed to help you improve a specific skill. They will help you improve your career prospects, maintain currency in your field, or allow you to try out something completely new.

Pathways

VET to Higher Education Pathway Mapping for completed Awards in the same field or discipline.

After completing the 4x4 workshops, students may use these units towards completion of a certificate II or III qualification in a range of industry areas.

Admission criteria

To gain entry into VTP413 4x4 Operations, candidates must hold a current Australian provisional licence or above.

To ensure you have the right skills and support to succeed in your course, a Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LL&N) evaluation helps identify any areas where you may need additional support to help you achieve your goals.

This is a non-award course and a Statement of Attainment will be issued for nationally recognised units of competency successfully completed.
