Improving the wellbeing of international students in the Northern Territory is the goal of new programs being offered at Charles Darwin University thanks to the Northern Territory Government’s International Student Wellbeing Grant Program.

Additionally, these programs also encourage international students living in the NT to experience life as a Territorian by providing them with the opportunities to discover, learn and explore the landscapes and cultural environment.

All current international students at CDU are encouraged to join these programs.

Paint and Create Darwin (closed)

A series of exciting workshops on how to paint acrylic and create your own Darwin story will be made available to all Darwin-based international student at Charles Darwin University (CDU). CDU international students will be able to attend a 2 hours-workshop with Paint and Create Darwin, a local business and learn painting step by step to create their own unique masterpiece.

Students will be provided everything they need, including canvas, brushes, paint, aprons and fun creative experience.

Why should you apply?

This activity will promote international student’s mental well-being through creativity and provide a sense of achievement and success as students get the chance to create their own work of art.

Eligibility

Up to 12 students will be able to attend each session. Registrations are open on a first-come-first-serve basis so secure your place now!

Terms & Conditions

  • Registrations are only open to current international students at Charles Darwin University in the Darwin area
  • All successful applicants must hold a current and valid Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC)
  • Registration is limited to a maximum of 2 sessions per student

The CDU People of Darwin circuit (closed)

Program dates

  • The program has now closed

The circuit is a series of five one-day crawls around Darwin and surrounding areas, where students will get to meet significant people of Darwin. These people could be a chef, baker, an Aboriginal leader, a Darwin-based artist, a business owner, a politician, an environmentalist, etc. This will vary based on availability. The students will meet these people at their workplaces, businesses, hang-out places, studios, etc. and learn more about their jobs, values, and beliefs and their contribution to our local community.

Why should you apply?
This activity will enhance the wellbeing of international students, and open the Darwin community and lifestyle to international students. It is also an opportunity for international students to widen their understanding of Darwin and increase the community’s understanding of international students.

Eligibility
Up to 10 international CDU students will be able to attend each trip.

They will be selected based on consistent and exemplary academic performance as well as the quality of their statement advising why they would like to join this activity and what they hope to gain from experience. An internal panel will review the applications and identify the successful applicants.

  • Applicants will be selected based on their written statement and satisfactory academic performance
  • All successful applicants must hold a current and valid Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC)
  • In considering this opportunity, applicants need to be mindful about moderate physical activities required during the trip
  • A trip itinerary will only be sent to successful applicants.
