VTP291 Introduction to Food Safety

2021

This program provides participants with the skills and knowledge required to use personal hygiene practices to prevent contamination of food that might cause food-borne illnesses.

All learning and assessment resources are available through CDUs online learning platform Learnline.

Entry requirements

You must:

  • be 18 years or older; and
  • not be attending secondary school; and
  • be able to demonstrate appropriate language, literacy, and numeracy skills and knowledge to undertake this course. This is demonstrated if you have completed a qualification deemed equivalent to an Australian Year 11 or higher, Australian Certificate III or higher, or by completing a Language, Literacy, and Numeracy (LLN) assessment.

Essential requirements

Participants must have access to a commercial kitchen to complete this program. This may be their place of employment, or another suitable venue they have arranged access to.

Fees

To be eligible for an NT Government funded place you must be:

  • a Northern Territory resident; and
  • an Australian citizen, permanent Australian resident or a New Zealand citizen who has resided in Australia for a minimum of six months

Fees

To be eligible for an NT Government funded place you must be:

  • a resident of the Northern Territory; and
  • a temporary visa holder who:
    • does not have work or study restrictions
    • has a valid visa for the duration of the training, allowing for the total volume of learning required to achieve the qualification, including supervised and unsupervised training and study
    • is not the primary provisional visa holder of a skilled, business innovation and investment, student, work or holiday visa identified on the Department of Home Affairs website.

Course structure

To achieve the vocational training program VTP291 Introduction to food safety a total of one (1) unit of competency must be completed as listed below.

Students will be issued with a Statement of Attainment upon successful completion.

The total Nominal Hours for this training program is 15.
