SPECIAL NOTE: This file (ADV4200c) is part three of a three part series of files for ADVF4200. This file explains the screen that appears after selecting the Unit Level Details button. This button appears in the bottom block of ADVF4200. |
| This section ONLY deals with the Unit Level Details button. For a full description of ADVF4200, see AD4200A. Advanced Standing Unit Level is accessed via the Unit Level Details button at the bottom of the block. There are two types of Advanced Standing recorded in the System:
Advanced Standing for a Unit Level recognises that a student has undertaken prior studies or has experience which, while not being equivalent to a specific Unit, has a degree of relevance to the Student's Course Attempt. The prior studies/experience are assessed as being equivalent to a number of Credit Points at a particular Unit Level (or levels). Separate Unit Level Advanced Standing records are created for each combination of Unit Level (in which Advanced Standing is granted) and basis institution. Unit Level Advanced Standing is Credit toward the student's course progression and completion. The Rules sections, below, contain important information regarding transactions using this screen. The Notable Effects section, below, details the effects of the various attributes of an Advanced Standing Unit Level record. The operation of the Advanced Standing Subsystem, including the recording process and use of 'Granting Statuses' is elaborated upon in Understanding Advanced Standing. Each field is described in detail in the Subsystem Glossary. For example, a student applies for Advanced Standing in the Bachelor of Arts. The student has previously studied for and been awarded an Arts Diploma. Due to the general overlap of these two courses the student is granted eight level 1 Credit Points as their Advanced Standing in the Bachelor of Arts. Another student has partially completed a Bachelor of Education at another institution, completing five first year and two second year Units. They have enrolled in the Bachelor of Arts at this institution. It is assessed that the prior study justifies Advanced Standing of eight Credit Points at level 1 and fours Credit Points at level 2. In both cases the Advanced Standing is recorded in the System against the students' current Course Attempts. |
Note: This is only a description of what is shown when the Unit Level Details (Advanced Standing Unit Level) button is selected. See AD4200A for a full description of other aspects of ADVF4200. The Person block contains:
