CRSF2160 - Maintain Unit Classes

Unit Class This form is used to maintain the institution defined set of available Unit Classes. A Unit Class describes the time and mode of availability of a class. Unit Classes are assigned to Unit Offering Options to describe the way the class will be presented to students. For example, a Unit Class EON could be used to define Classes offered on campus in the evening. Other examples are shown below.
The Unit Classes are defined for Unit Offering Options in CRSF2500 and the Unit Class values are mapped to Unit Modes in CRSF2160. Unit Modes are used to derive element 329, reported to the government in the HE Unit Enrolment and VSL Unit Enrolment data groups. |

create a new Unit Class using the Maintain Unit Classes form:

Rules/Notes: If a Unit Class has been used in the definition of a unit, it cannot be deleted. It can be closed, preventing any further use, by selecting the Closed check box. A CLOSED Unit Class cannot be re-opened if the Unit Mode to which it is mapped is CLOSED. |
To modify a Unit Class using the Maintain Unit Classes form:

Rules/Notes: If a Unit Class has been used in the Definition of a unit, only the description can be modified. This is not recommended unless the change in description is minor and does not affect the meaning of the Unit Class. A new Unit Class should normally be created. A Unit Class can be closed, preventing any further use, by selecting the Closed check box. |
