This form is used to record and maintain the institution-defined set of Country Codes. These map to Government Country codes, but provide for greater flexibility with the ability to subdivide Government Codes and to use more meaningful codes. Each institution defined Country Code must be mapped to a Government Country Code. Country Codes are used to record person statistical details in the Maintain Person Statistical Details form (ENRF3060) reporting to government data for countries of birth (E346), permanent residence country - where not Australia (E658) and semester residence country - where not Australia (E661) in the HE Students and VSL Students Data Group.
A government value of '9998' is selected in ENRF3060 to indicate that no information on country of birth for a student who was born outside Australia.
A government value of '9999' is selected in ENRF3060 to indicate that there is no information on whether they were born in Australia or not.

Examples of Country mappings:

• The Government Country Code for Albania is 3201, this function permits the definition of an institution-defined code which will map to 3201, for example, ALBANIA.
• An institution may be interested in knowing the states within countries from which their students originate. This function permits the Government Country Code 8104 - U.S.A. to be subdivided into states (ALASKA, CALIFORNIA, etc.) which map back to 8104.

The 'Eligible for OS-HELP Study in Asia' indicator is used to indicate that if this country is a primary or secondary country for external study, as defined in ENRF3900, then their external study loan should be one which is mapped to student status 241 in FINF1S00, which may make them eligible for an associated Asian Study Language Supplement OS-HELP loan (recorded in ENRF3900).

If ‘Hide from Applicant’ flag is activated, the selected Country will not appear for selection via the ‘Country of Citizenship’ list in Applicant Portal

If ‘Hide from Agent’ flag is activated, the selected Country will not appear for selection via the ‘Country of Citizenship’ list in Agent Applicant Portal.

• Enter Insert mode
• Enter the new Country Code in the Country Code field of a blank record
• Enter the corresponding description for the Country Code in the Description field
• Select the Government Country Code to which the new Country Code maps from the list of values (or key a valid value) in the Govt Country Code field
• Select the Effective Start Submission Year from the list of values
• Select the Effective End Submission Year from the list of values
• Select the Eligible for OS-HELP Study in Asia check box if overseas study in this country is eligible for an OS-HELP Study in Asia Loan
• Enter any other information regarding this Country Code in the Notes field
• Save

The Effective Start Submission Year can not be greater than the Effective End Submission Year.

To delete a Country Code record using the Maintain Country Codes form:

• Find the record to be deleted
• Locate the cursor in the record to be deleted
• Delete record
• Save

Rules/Notes:

If a Country Code has been assigned to a Student Enrolment, it cannot be deleted. It can be closed, preventing any further use, by selecting the Closed check box.

A Country Code cannot be deleted if it has been used to define:

• An Organisational Unit (ORGF0141)
• An Institution (ORGF0120)
