| This block is used to record and maintain institution-defined Course Categories. It provides a means of grouping a diverse set of courses which cannot easily be selected via common attributes, enabling inquiry, reporting and manipulation of courses by that category. Course Categories can be used for specific purposes within the Statistics subsystem. For example if a course belongs to the GOVT-PW-PS (Professional Pathway Psychology degrees) or GOVT-PW-SW (Professional Pathway Social Work degrees) categories, it may impact the value that is reported to the government for Element 392 Maximum Student Contribution code in the Unit Enrolments data group. This form is accessed from the main menu. Note: The Maintain Course Categorisations form (CRSF1270) is used to assign a Course Category to a Course Version. |

Rules/Notes: The Skills Reform check box is used to record whether a Course Category is a 'Skills Victoria' Course Category (applicable to VET institutions in Victoria only). Different caps and charge rates apply to these course types during fee assessment. A Student Course Attempt in a course version in a Category with the ‘Foundation’ check box selected, will generate a warning if a Prior Education Achievement of Diploma or higher is added (in ENRF30A0).
Click on the Calendar Type Restriction button to replace the Course Categorisation block with the Calendar Type Restrictions overlay. This overlay enables you to specify the Calendar Types that will be applicable to the Course Category. For Courses with that Course Category, only Teaching calendar instances of the listed Calendar Types will be available. Course Category ADM-NO-MUL can be used to define courses in which multiple applications for the same course will not be allowed. Validations:
