Internships

Preparing students for employment

Postgraduate work experience placements

The Master of Business Administration (MBAPP) , Master of Accounting (MACPP) and the Master of Engineering (MENGIN) have a unique integrated 12 week industry internship. The internships are organised by CDU and take place in a public or private sector industry relevant to the student’s area of study. The internship usually takes place in the second year of study and provides:

  • an invaluable first hand experience in the Australian workforce.
  • an opportunity to apply newly learnt concepts to real world situations and improve business communication skills
  • contact with potential employers and increase the opportunity for graduate employment and employer migration sponsorship.

During the internship the student remains enrolled at CDU, is supported by the university and must complete academic requirements.
Note: Students should not expect to be paid during the internship

Undergraduate work experience

The following undergraduate programs have integrated work placements that form a compulsory part of the program. The internships vary in duration for each course. The work placements are organised by CDU and students will be fully supported by CDU teaching staff throughout the work placement:

  • Bachelor of Engineering (12 week Work Placement)
  • Bachelor of Nursing (Compulsory practical placements throughout the course)
  • Bachelor of Pharmacy (Compulsory placements in community pharmacies, hospitals, and rural or remote primary health care centres)
  • Bachelor of Teaching & Learning (Pre-service) (Compulsory practical placements throughout the course)

Research Internships

Limited places available for international students to do a volunteer Research Internship at CDU, as part of their home university degree. Places are limited to suitable research projects and supervising capacity. Students apply through their home universities and are expected to cover their own costs. The internships may range from three to six months. For more information on the Research Internships please email international@cdu.edu.au.
