Gender equity and diversity takes centre stage with launch of new resource hub

November 2025 edition
Andrew Taylor

Charles Darwin University’s (CDU) new NT Gender Equity and Diversity Knowledge Hub has launched, providing insights on progress and challenges for gender equity and diversity in the Territory.

In line with the NT having Australia’s most diverse and male-balanced population, the Hub brings together initiatives that celebrate community diversity, offer tools for respectful and inclusive language, and provide support for health, wellbeing, and financial security.

It also highlights programs that promote safer communities and workplaces, and foster pathways into leadership and decision-making roles.

The Hub’s website serves as a one-stop location to find resources and initiatives from organisations such as the Australian Human Rights Commission, Territory Women Archives, Mental Health NT, the Workplace Gender Equality Agency, Our Watch, and more.

Associate Professor Andrew Taylor said, this is a collaborative initiative between researchers at CDU’s Northern Institute and the Northern Territory Government’s Office of Gender Equity and Diversity, the hub is a step towards connecting Territorians to create better, safer opportunities in their communities and workplaces.

“Gender equity and diversity is vital for society to grow in tolerant and meaningful ways, as well as for innovation and for general stability,” Associate Professor Taylor said.

“As we deepen our understanding of just how important those diversity and equity factors are to social cohesion, economic, and population growth in the Territory, it becomes clearer that we need to invest in the right research and programs to support this area.

“Our collaboration with the Office of Gender Equity and Diversity in creating the Hub enables Territorians to engage in purposeful ways to celebrate diversity and track how we are going as a society in key indicators of diversity and equity.”
