Palmerston campus

CDU’s Palmerston campus is a friendly, warm and welcoming place for students, staff and visitors. Our aim is to engage with the dynamic and growing community of Palmerston and the surrounding region in order to contribute to growth and development for future generations.

The Administration and Teaching Resources Building (Building A) and the Tourism and Hospitality Building (Building B) were officially opened on March 22, 1995, and teaching commenced at this campus in these buildings on Semester 1, 1995. Building C - home of the Library and after-hours computer access and study area for CDU students - was officially opened on May 23, 2001, and the Bakery Building was opened October 4, 2007.

The campus is home to a number of CDU TAFE courses, and our highly acclaimed teaching team consists of experts in culinary arts - commercial cookery, bakery and butchery, tourism and hospitality, hair, beauty and retail, sport and recreation, fitness,  Information Communication and Technology (ICT), spoken and written English courses, and children's services and education support.

CDU TAFE short courses at the Palmerston campus include:

    • Barista Training
    • Hair and Beauty
    • Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA).

    City of Palmerston

The city of Palmerston is about 21km south of the Territory's capital, Darwin, and has attracted many young families because of work, housing and access to modern medical facilities.

The city centre has two major shopping complexes, various sporting clubs, restaurants, pubs, a skate park, water park, cinema and smaller shops.

Palmerston's environment is perfect for outdoor living. The city has a wide range of sporting groups. The Archer Sporting Complex is set up for baseball and football. The Palmerston Leisure Centre is the home of the swimming pool and offers a gym, aerobics and swimming, as well as martial arts classes. A multi-purpose recreation centre has been built in the city centre.

Palmerston has more than 100 parks, many with playgrounds and barbecues. Marlow Lagoon is a large recreation area where community and private events are often held.
