The Salon des Refusés is the companion exhibition to the Telstra National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Art Awards (NATSIAA). Showcasing works submitted but not selected for NATSIAA, the Salon highlights the extraordinary breadth and strength First Nations arts practice across the country. Held during the Darwin Festival season, it offers audiences a rare and compelling window into contemporary Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander art—both where the movement has come from and where it is heading. More than an alternative selection, the Salon is its own powerful celebration of creative excellence.
