The Bachelor of Nursing prepares students for the role of a Registered Nurse, to deliver the highest quality, patient-centred care to people of all ages in a variety of settings. Kamala is the senior researcher and senior lecturer committed to public health and tropical medicine and has more than 10 years of field experience in Africa and Asia, coordinating clinical trials to inform treatment of the management of infectious diseases.

The program is underpinned by a philosophy of woman-centred care and provides learning opportunities to prepare the students to function as reflective, compassionate, safe and competent midwives. As a GP in Timor Leste, Dr Merita Monteiro saw lots of examples of communicable disease in her clinic. Thanks to the partnership between CDU, the Menzies School of Health Research and the Ministry of Health in Timor-Leste, Dr Monteiro is learning from the best to help tackle these diseases in her home country while she's studying public health. When Merita graduated with a medical degree in Cuba back in 2011, she had no idea that eventually she’d end up in Darwin studying a Master of Public Health.
Dr Hughes mixed-methods research includes quantitative measures, longitudinal datasets, qualitative research and partnering with patient experts and community leaders and clinician collaborators to prioritise and develop research priorities and deliver research impact.
Graduate as a medical scientist and be responsible for analysing patient samples, assist with disease diagnosis and ensure suitable treatments. You may also choose to complete a PhD and segue into research. We have a long association with Menzies School of Health Research, one of Australia’s leading medical research institutes, and the region attracts many high achieving scientists. CDU Health Hub Psychology Service offers quality and affordable psychological assessment and therapy to the general community. Psychology services are provided by students completing the Master of Clinical Psychology program.
