Angela Devine’s primary research interest is in providing policy-relevant economic evidence on the control and treatment of malaria. Her broader interests in infectious diseases extend from malaria to HIV, tuberculosis, hepatitis B, antimicrobial resistance, and dengue.
A critically endangered Hawksbill turtle, who was found weighing just 16 grams, has been nursed back to health at Charles Darwin University’s Turtle Rehabilitation Centre and is set to be released back into the wild near Gove today.
My research focuses on educational psychology, with a particular emphasis on students' wellbeing, workplace diversity, Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) educational aspirations, education policy, online learning, digital engagement, and the use of AI in enhancing student learning. I explore how psychological principles can be applied to enhance educational outcomes, particularly for students from diverse cultural backgrounds.

Dr Kho leads an internationally recognised research program on the biology and pathophysiology of human malaria. His research has fundamentally reshaped understanding of malaria pathogenesis through discovery of a hidden splenic reservoir of Plasmodium parasites in humans which has transformed the parasite’s lifecycle and redefined malaria as primarily an infection of the spleen.
The Molly Wardaguga Institute for First Nations Birth Rights was a strategic investment by Charles Darwin University in 2019. Established in honour of Burarra Elder and midwife who worked extensively to improve health outcomes, with a vision of returning birthing services to Indigenous communities and Indigenous control. Centre co-directors, Professors Kildea and Roe, are leaders in health services research in midwifery, culturally responsive models of care and Indigenous health.
