Mark dropped out of high school in year 10. Fast forward a few years: he holds a law degree, is involved in countless legal education and community initiatives, has been NT Young Achiever of the Year and nominated as Indigenous valedictorian of his graduating class at CDU. 

Nicholas has always wanted to get involved in projects and at CDU he’s done exactly that. Studying his engineering degree has kept him pretty busy and, combined with a hands-on cadetship, he’s on track to build a successful career in engineering.

After graduating with an Associate Degree of Legal studies from CDU, Karina started her own enterprise in Darwin. Its organic growth and success are testament to her hard work and dedication to others.

Born and raised in Hanoi, Vietnam, Ellie spent her childhood helping her parents manage their retail store. Ellie chose to study an MBA as she wanted to learn key business skills and surround herself with like-minded individuals.

If university is a chocolate box, Courtney did her best to sample every flavour of CDU. She studied on campus when living in Darwin, studied online when interstate, studied abroad in Norway for the experience of a lifetime, and even picked up an internship as a student that helped her hit the ground running in her career.

Successful serial entrepreneur Dr Mark Englund has had a life-long fascination with all things technical. A supportive mother and an inspiring engineering academic changed the course of Mark's young life, leading to him study engineering in the Territory before taking the tech world by storm.

Passionate about ecology and wildlife, Larissa Potter graduated from CDU with a Bachelor of Science with first class Honours. After finishing school without a Year 12 High School Certificate, Matt thought his dreams of becoming a teacher were dashed. But, thanks to a free bridging program, flexible online study and “loads of practical” through a teaching degree at Charles Darwin University, he’s set to return to school in his mid-20s. This time as the teacher.

Let’s face it - we’re all guilty of making excuses from time to time, which ultimately stop us from achieving success. The reality is though, only we have the ability to make the positive change to be who we want to be and to stop letting excuses stand in our way of a better education, future and lifestyle. Here are some of the biggest barriers people can let hold them back from studying at uni:
