Overview
This program is specifically designed for students who have completed a Diploma of Audiometry. Advance your career in hearing health care with the Bachelor of Audiometrydeepen your critical thinking and expand your professional expertise. Building on your existing knowledge, the course provides advanced insights into evidence-based practice and explores the role of audiometry within the broader healthcare system, including applications in rural and remote communities.
You will extend your practice in person-centred approaches through the study of communication and counselling skills and deepening your knowledge of hearing loss co-morbidities.
Career opportunities
Graduates of the Bachelor of Audiometry will be well-prepared for leadership roles within the field, utilising the full scope of audiometric practice, and contributing to interdisciplinary healthcare teams. This qualification also serves as a strong foundation for further study in clinical audiology or related health sciences. Students can progress to study audiology at a Masters level upon completion of this degree and meeting entry requirements of the relevant masters program.
Practical experience
Students will complete 220 hours of work integrated learning across a 180 hour community based placement with a health organisation and a 40 hour community engagement project. Students will have mandatory pre-placement requirements to ensure they comply with expectations for working in a health organisation. All student placements are supported by CDU placement teams and a health academic.

(a) be an Australian citizen, who will complete some of your course of study while resident in Australia; or
(b) a New Zealand citizen; or an Australian permanent visa holder; or an eligible former permanent humanitarian visa holder; who studies the entire course while living in Australia.

What will I study?
You will receive block credit of 80 credit points of compulsory core units due to your completed Diploma of Audiology.
Course structure
In your commencement year you will extend your practice in professional communication and counselling skills and deepen your knowledge of social determinants of health, chronic conditions and evidence-based practice.
In your final year, through a combination of academic study and community-based projects, you will be able develop a broader understanding of the Australian healthcare system and audiometry within it.
Through your choice of specialist and general electives you will have the opportunity to expand your knowledge across diverse interest areas including project management and paediatric audiology.
A candidate must successfully complete units totalling 240 credit points (cp) as detailed below. All units are valued at 10 credit points unless otherwise indicated.

Entry requirements
Admission criteria
Admission requirements are met by the following:
Successful completion of the VET Qualification HLT57415 Diploma of Audiometry. This course is specifically designed for applicants who have completed a Diploma of Audiometry.
Essential requirements
As this course requires you to undertake a community project, you must demonstrate compliance with the required actions. It is your responsibility to ensure that the correct documentation is obtained prior to commencing the community project. Students must present a national and/or international police check, a current Working with Children check and complete a Fitness to Practice statement. A current immunisation schedule is required before you can undertake practical placements in health settings.
