It was previously stated that the Australian Government was offering course fee discounts from 70%. This should have said up to 70% based on the individual units that make up your course. CDU would like to apologise for any confusion or inconvenience caused.
Some courses only include units from disciplines with the highest discounts (Health, Engineering, and IT), so their fees align with the 70% range. However, other courses include electives from multiple disciplines, meaning the discount varies based on the electives chosen.
If you would like to discuss your elective choices or if there’s anything else, we can clarify please contact us at Student Central on 1800 061 963.
Study a postgraduate degree in a Commonwealth Supported Place (CSP) at Charles Darwin University and save up to 70% of your total course fees on select courses subsidised by the Australian Government.
It’s a subsidy, not a loan, so you don’t have to pay it back. CSP holders may also be able to access HECS-HELP to defer all or part of their course fees.

What is a Commonwealth Supported Place (CSP)?
A CSP is a university place where the tuition fees for eligible domestic students are split into two parts:
- Government Contribution: The Australian Government funds up to 70% of your tuition fees.
- Student Contribution: The remainder, which can be deferred and repaid via a HECS-HELP loan.
Who is eligible?
Commonwealth Supported Places are available to students who meet one of the following residency requirements:
(a) an Australian citizen, who will complete some of your course of study while resident in Australia; or
(b) a New Zealand citizen; or an Australian permanent visa holder; or an eligible former permanent humanitarian visa holder; who studies the entire course while living in Australia.
Further information about fees and charges can be found at Fees and Payments.
