CDU Alumni Appointed to Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia (Division 2)

March 2026 edition
Judge C Jenkins

The Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia’s (FCFCOA) newest judge is a proud Charles Darwin University (CDU) alumnus.

Corey Jenkins, who graduated with a Bachelor of Laws in 2009, was appointed to the FCFCOA in December last year and was one of four new judges who took up the gavel in February.

Attributing CDU’s “progressive” approach to education to his success, Judge Jenkins said he had nothing but happy memories from his university days.

“Charles Darwin University, when I attended, was right at the forefront of online teaching in Australia, which I utilised due to distance education,” he said.

“I always found the lecturers to be highly experienced, approachable, and progressive.”

Previously, his Honour was admitted as a Legal Practitioner in the Supreme Court of Queensland in 2009 and from 2013 to 2016 he was the Director of Jenkins Lawyers.

Judge Jenkins also practiced as a Family Lawyer for Legal Aid in Queensland in 2016 before being appointed as a Senior Judicial Registrar (SJR) of the FCFCOA Division 1 and Division 2 in the Cairns Registry in 2021.

Attorney-General Michelle Rowland MP welcome Judge Jenkins and his peers to their new roles.

"I congratulate Ms Amelia Edwards, Mr Corey Jenkins, Ms Philippa Mitchell and Ms Frances Neilson on their appointments and thank them for their willingness to serve the Australian community,” she said.
