A modern take on Dongshan grass weaving

grass weaving

Chinese Dongshan grass weaving workshop – A four-session journey in October.

After a wonderful first round, where over 20 participants joined us and experienced the joy of weaving, we’re excited to continue the journey in October!

What to expect

Over four sessions, you will gradually learn and practice the five essential weaving techniques—starting a base, straight vertical weaving, changing colours, adding stems, and finishing edges. These skills will be introduced naturally through small projects, so that every class is hands-on and creative.

Participants will have the chance to try making:

  • earrings – small and delicate, perfect for beginners
  • coasters – practical and patterned
  • fans – light and playful
  • hanging ornaments – creative decorations to brighten your space.

It is a gentle way to slow down after a busy day, to find calm through your hands, and to share laughter and creativity with others.

Whether you are joining us for the first time or returning to continue your weaving journey, you will leave with not only growing skills but also a sense of peace and connection.

Come and weave with us—bring home not just handmade pieces, but also warm memories and a craft that will stay with you.

Registration is limited to 8 people.

Venue: CDU Casuarina campus, Orange Building 2, Fourth floor, Room 24

Time: 5.30 pm - 7.30 pm, every Friday
