The focus of the India Reference Group is to share information amongst active and interested members of the CDU community, the Northern Territory Government and other key partners about collaborative activities that are being pursued by CDU in India.

The India Reference Group reports to the International Committee which reports to the Vice-Chancellor's Advisory Group.

The circulation of this information will assist in the coordination of a university wide approach to activities in India and act as a catalyst for generating more opportunities for collaborative engagement.

Membership of the Group comprises senior academic and administrative members of the University's governance hierarchy; active researchers; facilitators and managers of important stakeholder relationships, and representatives of the Northern Territory Government.

The Group meets once a year and is Chaired by Professor Sharon Bell, Deputy Vice-Chancellor. Secretariat support is provided by Sally Hodgetts, Manager, International Projects and Operations, Office of International Services. In addition, the University hosts a CDU Engagement with India event to showcase the diversity of collaborative activities being undertaken.

CDU signs Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with VIT University, Vellore

Charles Darwin University and VIT University have signed a MoU to use their best endeavours to explore opportunities for cooperation in areas of shared interests and strength in research, teaching and training. The scope of the agreement includes staff and student exchange, joint research, a 2 + 2 twinning program, and distance education via on line teaching technologies and the development of MOOCs (Massive Online Open Course).

Areas of shared interest and research include medical and health sciences, clinical sciences, emergency and disaster management and engineering.
