The aurora lights have provided the inspiration for students preparing for a hair and beauty show that promises to be a spectacular affair at Charles Darwin University’s Palmerston campus next week.

Sales and Personal Services Team Leader Linda Manning said the sky was the limit for students in terms of their approach to design and creativity.

“The Aurora hair and beauty show will be their time to shine,” Mrs Manning said.

“We’ll see a lot of colour, creativity and excitement, especially among the Avant-Garde entries where students will be let loose.

“Gold and silver and metallic colours have been in vogue on fashion catwalks this year, so these are likely to be prominent among a mix of pastels.”

Mrs Manning said it would be a big night of excitement for CDU’s full-time, apprentice and VET for Schools hairdressers, and for students in beauty services, make-up and nail technology.

“About 60 students have registered to take part.”

Mrs Manning said the Red Carpet and Saturday Night Fevers hair and beauty shows of previous years had pulsated with energy and fun.

“They seem to get bigger each year.

“This year’s group of students is imaginative, energetic and skillful so we expect standards will be high.”

Mrs Manning said the event would be held in the Karawa Training Restaurant on Tuesday 22 August from 6.15pm.

“There are just 160 tickets, which are on sale at hairdressing reception, and going fast,” she said.
