A retired NT police officer turned active musician, his show has grown to become a Sunday night favourite over four years, drawing a dedicated following of blues enthusiasts.

"I've always had a deep passion for music, especially the blues,” Mr Stringer said.

CDU Research Fellow and Lecturer Dr Mariana Campbell and Researcher and Lecturer in Engineering Mathematics, Dr David Ompong have been selected as finalists as part of the Northern Territory 2023 Young Tall Poppy Science Awards.

The Charles Darwin University TAFE Alice Springs hairdressing apprentices have received practical training in mullet cutting to help a local charity raise funds during the 2023 Red Centre Nats.

CDU Mullet Madness partnered with Mulletfest, a not-for-profit that celebrates a unique hairstyle for a cause. The students offered Mullets by donation, at the Fringe Festival on the Town Council Lawns. They raised $1000 and all proceeds going to the Royal Flying Doctor Service Alice Springs Division.

A strong interest in fee-free TAFE places has brought in approximately 800 enrolments to Charles Darwin University (CDU), with the accessible pathway opening new training opportunities across health, business, hospitality, and education disciplines.

Supported by the bilateral skills agreement announced last year, new students will be pursuing certificates in traffic control, IT, music production, environmental studies, and community services among others.
