Open to CDU staff and students

This practical workshop introduces HDR students to applied Research Data Management (RDM) and guides participants through developing a clear, fit-for-purpose Data Management Plan (DMP) using an online DMP tool.

The workshop complements the mandatory RDM online module by focusing on practical application once students have a clear research design and data collection plan. It helps translate early, theoretical RDM requirements into realistic, project-specific data management decisions.

What you’ll learn

  • why research data management matters across the full research lifecycle
  • how good data management supports ethics, integrity, compliance, and future reuse
  • how to structure and complete a practical DMP using an online DMP tool
  • how to plan data storage, access, security, retention, and sharing

Who should attend

All HDR students are welcome, but the workshop is best suited to students who have passed CoC or are preparing for Human Research Ethics approval, and who have a clear, finalised data collection method.

HDR supervisors and Early Career Researchers are also welcome to attend.
