A new study into the clinical effectiveness of a rural Birthing on Country service - compared to mainstream maternity services - has revealed First Nations women had significantly more normal vaginal births, were more likely to be exclusively breastfeeding upon hospital discharge, and had greater engagement with culturally safe wellbeing programs.
As an exercise and sports scientist you'll be an expert in understanding how human bodies respond to exercise, and how to make a difference in the quality of life for all people. You'll teach people to use exercise as an intervention to improve health and fitness. The course is integrated with health, fitness and sporting agencies within the community. This gives you a variety of options for work placement as part of your study program. Delivered on campus in the Northern Territory and external delivery mode, you'll study the general principles of health and physical performance, specialising in tropical hot and humid conditions.
During your time at university, you will master many new skills that you will use in your studies, and then in your professional life after you graduate. One of the most important skills is using accurate and clear language in your written and oral assignments. This section has materials that will help you polish your language. If you lack confidence with accuracy, look at the sections on Grammar and Punctuation. If you have been told that your style is too informal, read the section in Grammar about What to avoid in formal writing.
Study a postgraduate degree in a Commonwealth Supported Place (CSP) at Charles Darwin University and save up to 70% of your total course fees for select courses subsidised by the Australian Government.

It’s a subsidy, not a loan, so you don’t have to pay it back. CSP holders may also be able to access FEE-HELP to defer all or part of their course fees.

The total discount applied is determined by individual unit selection on a case-by-case basis.
As part of CDU's NAIDOC Week program, we celebrate the achievements of the many Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women who have made a substantial contribution to, and impact on, this University.  From its very foundations, Indigenous women have contributed to making this University what it is today – they have inspired, driven change and shown pathways for staff and students, and we proudly acknowledge them all.   Read the inspiring stories of eight amazing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women who walked ahead, but always together, through the history and future of CDU.
