Overview
This microcredential introduces participants to practical approaches to language planning in revitalisation and maintenance contexts. Through examining planning models, frameworks and case studies, participants will apply processes, practices, and philosophies of language planning in varied language ecologies and linguistic environments from Australian and global contexts.
This microcredential will be of interest to people working in community language programs, NGOs, schools and education providers, as well as language learners and language advocates, and anyone with an interest in language.
The 6-week microcredential includes a combination of a 1-day F2F/online workshop and self-paced online learning content.
Learning outcomes
- Describe, explain and evaluate different approaches to and aspects of language planning, especially in revitalisation and maintenance contexts
- Examine and discuss real-world case studies from Australian and global contexts, considering the challenges and successes of such language planning initiatives
